ABSTRACTS ARE REQUESTED for the 63rd Southeastern Regional Meeting of the ACS (SERMACS 2011)

The theme of the meeting is “Charting Chemical Connections.” Meeting symposia will focus in the general areas of Analytical, Biological, Chemical Education, Chemical Health & Safety, Chemical Information, Chemical Toxicology, Environmental, Inorganic, Medicinal, Organic, Physical, Polymer, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Forensics and more.
Technical sessions will begin on Wednesday afternoon. Manfred Psiorz, CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim Chemicals, Inc in Petersburg, Virginia and Honorary Co-General Chair of SERMACS 2011 will present a plenary talk on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday evening, the International Year of Chemistry will be celebrated with a special symposium and reception at the Science Museum of Virginia featuring an internationally known speaker. The Stan C. Israel Award (diversity) winner, the E. Ann Nalley Volunteer Service Award winner and local Industrial Innovation Award winner will be honored during this reception. Poster sessions and one or more general sessions covering all areas of chemistry will also be included in the program.

Any one who is accepted, which has not yet happened, will have to register. You should know by the end of this week whether you have been accepted.

I am not able to submit online at the link http://abstracts.acs.org/
it says “Please select the program area in which you would like to submit your paper” and after that nothing comes up for selection

The selection for program area is a drop down menu, if you are attempting to do this on an mobile device, it may not work, at least on my iPad it doesn’t. Try going to a regular computer and try again.

When you sign in to the PACS system and select SERMACS 2011 you will be prompted to create a submission. Then, you are taken to the screen asking you to “Please select the program area in which you would like to submit your paper”. Double click on the folder that says RM_SERMACS and you will see the whole list of symposia.

It seems the abstract submission is already over. But here it says ‘September 20- Last day for Abstract Submission.’ I was not able to complete the submission. Is there any way to still submit the abstract?

When I try to submit an abstract it says “Please select the program area in which you would like to submit your paper”, however, there are no drop-down menus or options available. I have tried this on three different browsers in a Windows 7 operating system. Is there an alternative procedure to submit my abstract?

I have been trying to submit my abstract no luck. It is almost midnight so not sure what to do. When I put the abstract body and push save nothing happens. I have also tried next and submit but no luck.
