The Virginia Section will host the SERMACS meeting in the historic Shockoe Slip of Richmond at the Omni Hotel from October 26 – 29, 2011.
The organizers are looking for symposia and speakers that can show how chemistry makes connections with other disciplines by “Charting Chemical Connections”. The Local Organizing committee has members from the Virginia Local Section but we need more volunteers to help with this meeting. Please contact any of the LOC members for more information about submitting a symposium or volunteering.
The Anticipated size of meeting including members, students and teachers would be 1200 – 1500 attendees. The 1991 SERMACS held in Richmond, Virginia drew individuals from the South Eastern region, the Mid atlantic region and the Northeastern region with a total of 1350 attendees.

I am requesting that the “Frontiers in Nucleic Acid Chemistry” symposium be added to the SERMACS 2011 program. This symposium has just completed it’s 23rd year and is typically held at the SERMACS meetings. The symposium is generally 4 sessions (2 morning, 2 afternoon) plus one poster session. I can be contacted at dgraves@uab.edu for more information.
